Things You Need to Know When Enclosing a Pool

When enclosing your pool there are different fence styles to consider – Do you want privacy or a more open look (or both). If you need privacy there are multiple options in the cedar, or you can opt for Trex® or Simtek®. For a more open feel we would install Fortress® ornamental iron.

There are city ordinances that you must adhere to when enclosing your pool (they vary from city to city), which is required. The fence must be 6’ tall at minimum, you will need to have self closing hinges, and a latch that is approximately 4.5’ above grade (latch height will vary on city ordinances). The latch that we most commonly use is manufactured by D&D www.fencesource.com , and it is called a Magna Latch (short for magnetic) – this particular style will be within all city codes. You can view this option on their website at www.magnalatch.net .

If there are questions about certain city ordinances that you may not know check with your local municipal, or ask one of our estimators – we know about the basic requirements that a pool enclosure will entail. Here is a URL to a video of the Magna Latch and how it works – www.youtube.com/watch?v=LK3rgV7UDbk
